At Euroflorist, we believe beautiful flowers shouldn’t come at the cost of the planet. That’s why sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. From where our blooms come from to how they’re packed and delivered.
Here’s how we’re making flower gifting more eco-conscious.
Our flower supplier Blumenfrau sources its flowers exclusively from neighbouring European countries, working with trusted growers who meet the MPS or MPS-A certification standards.
This certification, the Dutch Environmental Programme for Ornamental Plant Cultivation, ensures environmentally responsible practices across water use, plant protection, energy, and waste management.
In fact, 93% of all flowers Blumenfrau uses are certified sustainable and traceable to growers who prioritise planet-friendly farming.
You might be wondering why our supplier's bouquets aren’t labelled Fairtrade. The reason?
Fairtrade requires them to source flowers from faraway countries like Ecuador or Ethiopia. These flowers are flown in or transported long distances, which increases emissions and packaging waste.
Instead, they prioritise regional sourcing, reducing transport time, waste, and environmental impact. It’s their way of staying true to sustainability, not just ethics on paper.
Our supplier Blumenfrau is proud to use FSC®-certified wrapping paper and wine/champagne boxes, along with recycled paper for our greeting cards and envelopes.
Plus, their flowers are delivered in reusable transport tubs instead of one-use cardboard boxes. It’s just one more way we reduce unnecessary waste.
While the flowers in your bouquet are certified, some decorative greenery or filler plants, like pistachio that is locally grown in Austria, don’t carry the same label. That’s simply because these items are locally grown and don’t require certification. Still, they’re chosen with the same care and environmental consideration.
Flowers are delivered fresh to our florists every two days, straight from growers with efficient, fuel-saving delivery routes.
This keeps cold storage needs low and flower waste to a minimum. We work fast, with little shrinkage and nearly zero loss.
All bouquets marked sustainable are made with certified flowers and created in partnership with certified European growers.
While we can’t label our products Fairtrade, our sustainable label is fully backed by industry-standard certification. That means peace of mind for you, and a better future for the planet.
